What are the signs a house needs rewiring?
- A fuse box with rewireable fuses and no RCD
- Black rubber, lead-sheathed or fabric-covered cable
- Round-pin sockets, or very few sockets per room
- No earth wire at light switches or ceiling roses
- Repeated tripping, overheating or recurring faults
None of these on its own proves a full rewire is necessary. Testing establishes whether circuits are still serviceable or genuinely at the end of their life.
